The Harvest Moon Festival

Every year on the 15th of September (Chinese lunar calendar) is a day for family reunion. Traditionally on this day all family members unite and have dinner together. After dinner, the family sit together to admire the moon, chatting and sharing some special fruits, moon cake and peanuts for this special occasion.

My family follow the Chinese traditional even though we live in Australia. On Sunday we went out have dinner in a famous Chinese restaurant. After that we went back home then we sat on the living room, through the windows we admired the moon which was round and clear. It was so beautiful! We enjoyed every moment of the night.

The Great wall of China

(Icon from my country)

Have you ever been to the Great Wall of China? If not, I suggest you go to visit it, you would see one of the most amazing constructions in the world.

The Great Wall looks like a barricade which is stretching across the mountains of northern China, winding north and northwest of Beijing. It is built from masonry, rocks and packed-earth.

The great wall has more than 2000 years’ history. It was constructed to fend off the enemy and protect the country and the residents.

Since then, the Great Wall has become an important monument. Today people like to visit it because they believe in a Chinese saying “never been to the great wall, never will be a hero”.

About Andrew's interview

Very interesting story and so glad to hear Andrew shared his wonderful life experience with us.

As parents, we know that looking after our children would be the hardest job in our life. I admire Andrew and his wife’s kindness and thoughtfulness when they adopted Nut and Num. I believe that his two children are going to have an enjoyable life in Australia, and wish Andrew to have a lovely and happy family.

I have never been to Thailand, but I think I’ll visit it one day. Through Andrew’s interview I know some things about this country. The weather in Thailand has just three seasons, there is no winter, in summer time is hot, sticky and sweaty.

Also Andrew was talking about the global warming and the Australia climate. Australia is one of the driest countries in the world, people who live here are not very smart on the way they use water. I think the best thing to do is to educate them; let them know that protecting the environment is everyone’s responsibility. To safe the environment is to safe our life.

The city of Perth

Perth is the capital city of Western Australia which located in South Western Australia. It has a population of 1.340,000. This city has got four major Universities which brings lots of students there. It also has several museums, art galleries.

There is the cultural centre of Western Australia. The main industries are tourism, mining, gape growing and wine making.

Perth is one of the sunniest cities in the world. Normally there are 8 hours sun shine through a day. People who live there are relaxed and friendly. Perth has many clean and beautiful beaches which are good for swimming, surfing, boating and fishing. On weekends most people are cycling around the city, because there are many kilometres of cycle track, they love outdoor activities sunshine water; they enjoy their happiness which has been given by god.

Will you want to visit Perth? I believe that you will have a wonderful holiday in there.

The first day in Australia

The first day in Australia was a very special experience in my life. It was an early morning in Australia. My family and I arrived in Sydney airport. My friend Amy with her husband came to the airport to pick us up. They arranged us to stay in their home until we rented the house.

Amy’s house, which is in Hurstville, is not far away from the airport. We got there in 20 minutes by driving. We didn’t stop. We had been told Saturday was the good time to look for houses. We went to several real-estate agents and finally we found a house for our new home.

At night we went out for dinner with Amy’s family. Amy and her husband shared with us their experiences living in Australia. We got home at about 10 o’clock. I felt tired but couldn’t sleep. I was so excited and a bit worried because we were going to start a new life in the new country.

A day of Celebration

I went to my friend’s birthday party last Saturday. Amy is my very close fried who turned sixty last week. We gave her a birthday party for the celebration.

It was a very sunny day on Saturday. The party was in Jin full, one of famous Chinese restaurant at China town. The party started at eleven o’clock. When I arrived I saw many friends were there. I was very surprise when I saw Lily’s family at the party. She left Australia almost 5 years long. Since then I have never seen her again. We had a very good chat; also we arranged another time to meet again.

The party finished at 3 o’clock this afternoon. We all enjoyed see together again. At last we were wishing Amy youth and beauty forever.
A day trip at Darling Harbour

Last summer my friend and I went to Darling Harbour. We caught the train there. We met in front of the ticket box at 10 o’clock, and then we went to a Chinese restaurant to have lunch. After that we walked around the Harbour foreshore and admired the views. About two hours later we sat down in the Lindt chocolate cafĂ©. In there we had an afternoon break with my favourite chocolate milk.

We started going home at about 3 o’clock in the afternoon. We still caught the train back but this time was the peak hours, and there were many people in the train, we couldn’t find any seats, so we stood in the train until we got off the train. Even thought we felt little tired but we still very enjoyed this trip.
